SNOW SNOW SNOW What good is SNOW?

SNOW SNOW SNOW What good is SNOW?

I am looking out my kitchen window as I write this blog. I see nothing but white, the usual green grass is covered with a thick, thick, thick blanket of white. We've been experiencing the worst weather in BC history, worst weather for Vancouver. We've had snow storm after snow storm dump almost 4 feet of snow upon us and I am very worried about the after effects of this. When the rain comes and sends in the floods which will no doubt cause my skin to wrinkle from trying to clean up the knee high amounts of water that will seap in through my laundry room door. We will then no doubt have to restore all of the renovations we've made to the house in order to sell my home. Oh mother nature how cruel you can be to us.

If this snow remains I will have to consider weightloss surgery which will mean that I need to apply for a weightloss surgery loan, because I haven't been able to get outside and go for my walks. Curses snow, you are no friend of mine.

I had to laugh at myself this morning when the mail arrived with the renewal notice for our Touring Caravan insurance on our tent trailer. Yeah right, I am really going to consider going camping in this the frozen north. Think again. I am going stir crazy in this house feeling like a trapped dog with a 2 year old and a four year old. There's something to be said for living in warm climates.

Of the Canadian provinces, BC is usually the warmest in winter. Yes we receive the most rain of the provinces but at this stage - I would welcome rain to get rid of the white stuff. The only place for snow is on the mountains.

Automatic writing

June 3rd, 2008

I wanted to write an article about automatic writing. This is how it works. You take a pen and a piece of paper, and you start writing. The rules of the exercise are that once you place the pen on the paper, the pen must stay in contact with the paper the whole time. You are not allowed to stop writing at any point. You continue to write for the entire period of time that you set yourself to write without stopping once. You must write non stop. What does this achieve?
Well, the idea is to cut our conscious thought from what you write. After a while, because you have to just write whatever comes to your head, you can stop thinking about it and the words just keep pouring out. It is really interesting – and as a stream of consciousness writer I thought this might ne interesting to my readers. So try it! Put your pen to the paper, start writing, and do not stop for 20minutes, 30 minutes or however long you set yourself. I can’t stress this enough, the trick to doing this is to continue to write no matter what comes out – and don’t try to think about it. Whether you end up writing about team building events in Australia with talking kangaroos, or if in fact you end up writing complete nonsense it really doesn’t matter. After a while you will find the results more than interesting.
I did it once and found myself writing this weird sentence that didn’t quite make sense about a failed date that I went on years ago. It was something like “…Jo picked me up or I picked her up or there was definitely picking up going on, but it all went a bit crazy and I still can’t believe I went speed dating London is the worst place to try that kind of thing it was bound to end in tears”. It was only then that I realised that I was on some level still bitter about the way that the whole thing with her turned out. Knowing now that I was bothered by it, I’ve had a chance to deal with it and get it out of my system.
Try it! You may discover new things about yourself!

Gordon Brown’s Act with George Clooney

April 20th, 2008

At Gordon Brown’s recent meeting with Hollywood giant and UN peace messenger George Clooney, the BBC is reporting that the situation in Darfur was discussed. Mr Brown apparently said that he thought the situation there was unacceptable, but isn’t that something of a contradiction with his actions regarding the Olympics? Given his intent, his comments sound more like a script he was acting rather than his actual opinion on the matter.

China’s involvement with the Darfur crisis is well documented and it is one of the main areas that protesters against the Olympic Games being held in China are up in arms about, yet our esteemed acne prone skin Prime Minister is still intent on making an appearance at the Opening Ceremony. Despite the fact that prominent Heads of State boycotting this ceremony on the grounds of how the Chinese Government is handling certain humanitarian issues could be a global and public declaration of non-acceptance, Gordon Brown is intending to attend thus turning a blind eye to what’s happening as a result of Chinese involvement in Darfur and Tibet.

Words are not enough, it’s time our elected leader became less diplomatic. If Darfur and Tibet had massive oil reserves, would we – and the US - already be taking a more pro-active role in helping the people in these areas? Of course we would!

On a more positive note. This is what I'm going to change next the Microdermabrasion treatment part

London Impro Scene

March 22nd, 2008

I have been really quite amazed by how many new impro groups have been poping up all around London. It used to be that the London Impro scene consited of the Comedy Store Players and the Spondeity Shop (+ Grand theft). However now there are hundereds. There is Shrimp Rocket, Shotgun impro, the shrimps, Dance Monkey Dance and even more and the suprising thing about all this is most of these groups are really quite good.

There is evena serious Imrpo Movement, coming from people like Mark Pheonix and Fluxx. Having said this it not all good news a couple of old favorites are starting to disappear, I haven't heard anything from Sprot lately and I have even heard rumours that Crunchy frog very own Allan Marriot is going to be moving to Canada!!

What with all the news of the money crunch, we have begun to pick up a fair deal of jobs that we would usually outsource to other companies and now begin doing them in-house. Generally, I think it's a bit of a false economy but I really don't want to rock the boat. What this will entail is that I'm going to have to once again, redo the Cheap Laser Hair Removal and breast uplift in london sections without the wisdom from someone who knows the programming language! Curses! And just to further complicate things, I had to make alternative arrangements for my Thread Vein treatment. Oftentimes, there aren't any complications leaving work earlier than usual.

Good Ideas but are Government Strategies Sustained Long-Term?

December 14th, 2007

How typical that close to an election the government wheels out new plans that will reform some area of the country that’s been in dire need of a makeover for years.  This time around it’s Gordon Brown’s government setting out plans to revamp the way that cancer is detected and treat in the UK as apparently we’re lagging behind our European peers in this area.  Will it work?  Will it even be implemented in this Government’s lifetime?  Or is it just one of those carrots that are held up to lure voters to keep supporting a crippled Party who have not produced any results to warrant being re-elected into office.   One only has to look at the news that the Anti-Poverty strategy of 1999 that was to cut child poverty numbers by 50% in 10 years, which hasn’t made the improvements it said it would and is now in need of cash – if cash can’t be found to keep a pledge already made, how can the Government be issuing new plans for spending and expect the people of the country to trust them?

Finally we seem to be progressing with the site.Well I've totally finished the IPL skin treatment London part

Christina Aguilera Bares her Baby Bump and a Bit More!

November 30th, 2007

Beautiful Christina Aguilera is gracing the cover of the American version of Marie Claire this month – and she’s doing it in a big way by baring her baby bump and even though she’s got a little clothing to just about cover the essentials on the cover, inside she’s as naked as her baby’s going to be at birth!

Demi Moore started a trend by breaking the myth about pregnant bodies being ugly by allowing herself to be photographed in all of her pregnancy glory for a major international magazine.  Christina may not be breaking ground with these photos, but she is reinforcing the message that there’s nothing ugly or unattractive about carrying a child.  She may be a bit bigger than her normal super-slim self, but she’s none the less beautiful and unlike some celebrities, she’s not afraid to show off her temporary additional pounds.  Be proud Christina, that’s a timeless and graceful picture that has more class than some photos taken of slightly (and only slightly) more clothed celebrities in recent weeks!
