‘Why Aren’t Many Football Fans Normal People?’ is a question I have often asked myself. Personally, I absolutely detest the game and I cannot understand why anyone would find it exciting. A load of blokes kicking a ball around and gobbing every time they are on camera? Give me a break.

The scary thing is how something football this can turn people into patriot fanaticists. Take note of the amount of ‘fans’ who feel it necessary to chant and paint union jacks on their faces when it is the next World Cup. It is very tribal and it always makes me think of Mel Gibson in ‘Braveheart’.

I think I will stick to being a non-footy fan. It may be boring, but at least I won’t end up making an ass of myself…

Finally, I need to have a little bit of a gloat when we are talking about sport. I have just bought the most gratifying asics running shoes that I have ever owned. London Marathon, here I come!
