Governments Finally Acknowledge Climate Change

After years of tempestuous storms, bizarre temperatures, and overwhelming natural disasters, not to mention a sternly-worded rebuke from actual scientists, the governments of the world have finally gotten together and admitted that perhaps they should do something about global climate changes.

The forum has stated that it is “without doubt” that mankind is influencing climate change, and has outlined a plan to reduce global greenhouse emissions to improve the environment.  This agreement is non-binding, but politicians say that they believe that it indicates a real change in thinking about the environment.

To me, the debate is pretty clear.  The climate is changing, and if it continues to do so, there will be a serious impact for all of us.  Rising sea levels, droughts and floods, ruined harvests, and animals bereft of natural habitat can already be seen.

If humanity is not having an impact on the change, then there is little to nothing we can do about it:  we’re doomed.  But if our disregard for the environment is speeding the climate changes, then we can slow down, or even stop altogether, the disaster that is looming just ahead.  To me, the only sensible course is to take action.
